The 2's are reaching and stretching during yoga. We were reading a book called "The Grateful Giraffe"
I read Shubert is a S.T.A.R. by Dr. Becky Bailey to the 4's class. This book describes a few ways to change from "bug crazy mad" to "caterpillar calm" using some conscious discipline breathing techniques.
After reading the book we played a little game. I had a bunch of different things written on bean bags. It was up the 4's to decide if it was something that makes you "bug crazy mad" or "caterpillar calm"
After a few turns some of the kiddos were being silly and putting everything on the "caterpillar calm" square.
I tried to write things on the bean bags that would be relatable for the kiddos. On one of the red bean bags said "They said No!" and on one of the green bean bags it said "look at my family picture"
This game was fun...we might do it again!
Mindful Moments with the Infants :-)
Smelling flowers is how we practice deep breathing :-)
We also explored breathing stars and a silky ribbon!
This little breathing ball was a big hit in the infant room!
The Toddlers love playing with these little bugs. It's a good way to practice body control. Shaking your arm while holding onto the bug can be a little tricky.
The 3's class and their babies
We found some baby body parts. We found our babies eyes, nose, hands, feet, and mouth. Our babies were crawling away so we had to keep bringing them back!
"My baby's on my head, my baby's on my head, this is my baby, my baby's on my head" (To the tune of the farmer in the dell)
The 4's class spent some time feeding their babies. We used sticky notes as "bibs" to keep our babies cleaned. We used little washcloths as "fancy table cloths" for the meal.
Our "table cloths" turned into blankets after the babies got sleepy.
The kiddos had to take their babies around and help them choose some food. Thanks again 2's class for letting me borrow all the food!
Can you roll a ball to a friend and say their name? The 2's class can!
We also tried laying down and rolling a smaller ball. This works a completely different set of muscles.
We also took turns tossing the breathing cube. This has 4 different conscious discipline breathing exercises to choose from.
Finally, we practiced moving our feet to the speed of the drum. When I played the drum fast we kicked our feet fast and when I played the drum slow we kicked out feet a little slower.
The infants explored a couple yoga mats with me!
"Can you pat the mat?"
The toddlers each found a mat :-)
Can you stand on a mat?
We had fun pulling scarves out of a bucket!
Then we took turns tossing a squishy dice with yoga poses on it.
The 4's class "squeezed all the mad out" too!
The 4's also had fun tossing the squishy yoga dice!
