This week I introduced the kiddos to "snowga" which is snowy/winter themed yoga poses.
The 4's class did a few warm up stretches with me while we waited for the rest of the friends to join us.
We did a little reaching and stretching over head, out to the sides, and behind.
We stomped our feet really fast and then froze when I said "freeze!"
Next, we did some hot chocolate breathing. I gave everyone a little squishy pretzel to hold on to. I told them to pretend it was a cup of hot chocolate that is much too hot to drink. I told them that we had to take some slow deep breaths to cool it off. It was amazing to see the friends breathing together and saying "mmmmmmm" when they "took a sip of their hot chocolate."
This was the 1st snowga pose we tried. It's the snowflake pose. I told the class to spread their arms and legs out (like star pose) but twist and twirl like a snowflake. (After a while a few of the "snowflakes" got kind of dizzy)
Great twisting and twirling 4's friends!
This is the snow fort pose. I showed the kiddos a picture of a snow fort and the entrance was in the shape of a triangle. I told them that for this pose we are making a triangle with our feet.
We took a break from yoga and did some "arctic hare" hopping. I googled a picture of one.
Next, we rolled back and forth on the ground and pretended to be snowballs. A few of the kiddos were laughing at this silly pose!
I told the class that whenever I drew a snowflake card out of the pile, they could choose their own pose. It was cool to see that some of the kiddos chose familiar poses while others created their own!
Nice twisting Roman! Wells told me this was his sled pose!
We ended with the ski pose.
I told the friends that this pose is a great workout for their leg muscles!
We had to lean left and right and back and forth to make it down the hill....
We even hit a few jumps on our way down! (I think everyone stayed on their skis.) :-)
Toddler Time!
We had fun with the breathing stars. We out them on our heads, tummy, waved them up high in their air etc.
I sang a little song as I was passing the stars out. "I've got a bucket of stars______ would you like one?"
Kingston looks like he is doing a push up!
Mikey had a tiger on his shirt and Eli pointed at it and growled. So we decided to growl and crawl around the room like a tiger!
It was so cute when Mikey laid down on the yoga mat and Sienna, Miles, and Eli were patting his back. It was almost like they were "rubbing his back" for rest time.
Way to "go go go" Miles!
This is "go go go" Where we "run in place" on our yoga mats. We did this alot!!
Parker is checking out the yoga mat!
Sienna is "soo big!"
Ethan is "Soo Big"
I love this picture of Parker!
Great stomping Katherine!
Infants :-)
Marlowe is holding a breathing star!
Eviana is holding a breathing star!
My camera died after just a couple minutes. Marlowe ended up reaching her toes a few times!!
I helped in the 2's room on Thursday morning. Several of the kiddos were playing with baby dolls and doctor kits. I talked with Miss Emilee and we decided to further their interest by doing a baby doll circle time instead of yoga. The children were really excited about it!
We had so much fun playing with the babies!
Our babies started to cry so we fed them, changed them, rocked them and eventually they fell asleep. I loved listening to the suggestions for what the babies needed next!
We told our babies "I will keep you safe"
Due to scheduling I was unable to do mindful moments with the 3's class this week. Here are a few pictures from a couple weeks ago that I didn't post :-)
We practiced some belly breathing using STAR and balloon breathing.
Twist, twist, twist, your torso!
Nice tree pose Bennett!
Jude is flapping his arms like a bird!
Resting in child's pose :-)
Miss Lisa is tip toeing with the kiddos!
