Central Park Yoga Games

I walked down to Central park with the 4's/ School age class to do yoga with them after their snack.

We warmed up with arm circles 1st.

The 1st game we played was called "Wind in the trees."  Half of the kiddos hold tree pose while the others ran around.
The "trees" had to try to stay very still as the wind was "blowing"
It was a little tricky, but we switched who was being a "tree" and who was being "the wind"

The next game we played was called "Yogi Says."   It's just like Simon Says."   Audrey got to be the 1'st "yogi"

Now its Arabella's turn

We played this game until everyone got a turn to be "yogi"

Yogi says roll around on the ground.

Yogi says "Flying Ghost Pose"   (This is from the Cosmic kids Halloween super yoga)

Yogi says..."Be a chicken!"

The last game we tried was "The Wave"🌊

The object of the game is to have one person start a yoga move and then the person directly next to them quickly does the pose. This continues until everyone is doing the same pose. (Similar to doing "the wave at a sporting event")

Baby Yoga

Marlee was so excited when I brought the yoga mats to the room. She came right over and found one!

Eviana is sitting up on a mat!

I told the girls it was leg day...   I made up a little song while I moved their legs  🎵"Open and closed, open and closed, open and closed and back and forth."

I had a few ideas typed up and Marlee was very interested in the paper.

Nice table top pose Eviana!

Thanks for playing today, friends!

Animal actions and Guided meditation

 The Three's Class

We did a little belly breathing with our breathing stars

Can you flap your arms like a bird?

Great jump Louie!

Avery, Arthur and Miss Alyssa are clapping like seals   :-)

Can you run in place?   This was a little tricky  ;)

Great polar bear crawling everyone!

Ribbit Ribbit   Look at all the frogs jumping!   This is a great workout!

Everyone had an animal action card. We took turns showing the card and having everyone practice it.

The toddlers

They love playing with the breathing stars!

Can you find your toes?

I brought some squishy pretzels in too  :-)

Kingston is balancing a pretzel on Charlie's head  :-)

We can balance breathing stars on our heads too!

We say  "go, go, go, go, go" as we run in place!

Payton likes how the yoga mat feels   :-)

Kylie and Mikey like how the yoga mat feels!

Swim swim swim!

The Four Class listened a guided mediation called the "Affirmation Weaver"

Wells  noticed that the story repeated the same words over and over.  I told them that this was supposed to help relax your mind and body and that sometimes hearing the same thing can be calming.

We also talked about how the narrator read the story in kind of a calm or low voice.  I told the class that tone of voice is supposed to help you relax as well.

Overall they did pretty well. I could see lots of deep belly breathing happening.

At the end we talked about how we felt much calmer after resting our bodies and listening to the story.

The 2's Class!

First, we had to say "hello" to our feet!

Landon's elbow's are saying "hello"

I think we were doing drain breathing here!  You have to squeeze your hands and face and whole body nice and tight. When we exhale we let it all out and relax.

Aurora is having a great time!
Great kicking Iris!

Hey Remy   :-)

Can you jump in the water and swim like a whale?

"Go Go Go!"  Running in place is a little tricky   ;)

Nice polar bear crawling Quinton!
